 The Origin of Tru Chalk: From Obstacles to Innovation

Ten years ago, Karsten and Elliott weren't just tackling obstacles - they were building a movement. What began as casual Sunday training sessions quickly transformed into Tru Momentum, a group founded on inclusivity, resilience, and the belief that no barrier - physical or personal - should stand in the way of progress. Growing to over 50 individuals, their mission was clear: to create a space where people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities could push past their limits together.

But how did a passion for overcoming obstacles lead to a chalk company?

Enter Kevin. During one of many training sessions, he and Elliott found themselves reflecting on Tru Momentum's journey. As the conversation deepened, Kevin introduced an idea: a chalk company designed for athletes who live by the same core values - performance, grit, and community. The idea resonated, conversations sparked innovation, and soon after, Tru Chalk was born.

Today, Tru Chalk isn't just about grip - it's about holding onto something greater. A company fueled by dedication and the unshakable belief that obstacles, whether in sports or in life, are meant to be conquered.

I've been an athlete for as long as I can remember - competing in basketball, football, track and field, and even bowling. But when I found the Ninja community, I realized this sport was different. Here, it's not about competing against each other - it's everyone against the course. The camaraderie, the energy, the shared determination to push past limits - it's what makes this space so special.

I've always had a passion for helping others, and that's what drives me every day. Whether it was building Tru Momentum to bring athletes together or launching Tru Chalk, my goal has always been the same: to create tools that support people in reaching their full potential.

No matter what the challenge ahead, I believe grip should never be the reason someone falls short. That's why our products deliver all grip, no slip - so every competitor can focus on what matters most: conquering the course.

Karsten Williams

I'm a native Texan who grew up on running track, but my true passion has always been pushing limits - both physically and mentally. Competing as an 11-time athlete on American Ninja Warrior, I've had the honor of representing the sport and growing alongside the incredible Ninja community.

Beyond competition, I love sharing my expertise and inspiring the next generation of athletes. Coaching youth and consulting with gyms nationwide allows me to help others build confidence, strength, and resilience - values that extend far beyond the obstacle course.

As the owner of a premier obstacle and entertainment company, I focus on bringing high-energy, unforgettable experiences to communities. Whether it's training, coaching, or creating unique events, my goal is always to empower others through movement.

And when I'm not tackling obstacles, you'll likely find me on a different kind of mission - searching for the best pancakes in Dallas. Because great brunch is just as serious as great training.

Kevin Solberg
Co-Founder/CEO

I spent the early years of my career at AT&T in Supply Chain, but in 2010, I took a leap - stepping away to become a solopreneur and forge my own path. Entrepreneurship has been an exciting challenge, pushing me to innovate, problem-solve, and continuously grow.

Born and raised in Seattle Washington, I grew up riding skateboards and BMX, fully immersed in the city's low-riding car scene as a teenager. In 2000, I made the move to Texas where I started a family and continued to chase new opportunities. I've been married for over 20 years, raising two incredible teenage boys.

Beyond business, I live for the grind - whether it's waking up with the 4AM club, tackling obstacle training, or pushing limits in weightlifting. Discipline and movement fuel my days, keeping me sharp and ready for whatever comes next.

I'm a Tennessee native with a passion for capturing moments and telling compelling stories through visual media. Since 2020, I've been honing my craft as a photographer, video producer, and editor, bringing ideas to life through dynamic imagery and storytelling.

Today, I run my own media company in Dallas, Texas, where I specialize in creating high-quality content that connects, inspires, and elevates brands. Whether behind the lens or in the editing room, I thrive on crafting visuals that leave a lasting impact.
